Visiting New York's Upper East Side, I visited what was once known as German Town, a roughly-10 block area between 79th-89th and east of Third Avenue. It once was home to some great German bars, restaurants, and food markets, an area I'd periodically visit with my brother for beer and sausage. Today you can get there via the new Second Ave Subway but you'll not find much German-foodstuffs, outside of the classic store, Schaller & Weber. Here are some photos. It's worth a trip.
