This 4th of July weekend I was bedridden with a bug. After two days of suffering and a visit to the emergency room, I finally came around with some flu medicine and TLC. I was even able contribute and cook something despite the heatwave that came crashing in on us! Grilling a simple meal under a scorching heat that came in at 120 F on my mom’s patio thermometer, my body felt weak but my spirit was revived by my loving wife and mom whose presence and attention were there to nurse me back to health. In between monitoring the meal I was sneaking in to watch re-runs of Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations, not a bad psychic tonic for anyone who loves cooking. And in future weeks, I hope to become a bit more active on my posting while trying to end my summer season at work for my next travel adventure in Ecuador….
