A Stir The Pots Post

Birrificio Sorrento

by | Jul 19, 2015 | Uncategorized

My friend Domenico introduced me to Francesco Galano of the Italian brewery, Birrificio Sorrento. Francesco had tried sending me some beers but they had gotten lost in the postal service. But recently I managed to get a hold of three of their flavored beers, as well as to chat with Francesco about the brewing.

My first tasting was "Syrentum," a lemony brew. The lemons are grown in Sorrento, and added at the end of the brewing cycle. Served cold, the beer was great with a panino of ham and friarielli (cima di rape from Vesuvius). These  hand-craft Sorrento beers are great for summer, and are more muted (less aggressive) than many American and Belgian artisanal beers. They're also quite refreshing.  While on vacation later this summer in Italy, hopefully I'll make it to Sorrento for an on-premises tour and taste.

Grazie Francesco!
